Press Statement: Najib & BN Have Absolute Responsibility to Help Kg Buah Pala

Press Statement by Koay Teng Hai, Secretary of DAP Penang

Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak and the Barisan Nasional Federal Government has absolute responsibility to help the villagers of Kg Buah Pala to resolve their problems.

Najib's statement yesterday in which he pushed the entire responsibility of the Kg Buah Pala issue to the Penang State Government is irresponsible on his part and completely contrary to his 1Malaysia slogan.

The sales transaction of the land from Penang State Government to the Koperasi Pegawai Kerajaan Pulau Pinang which may cost the State to lose upto RM300 million of potential profit was done when Barisan Nasional was ruling the Penang.

Therefore, the Barisan Nasional cannot deny their responsiblity in this issue and leave the villagers in limbo. They are committing a serious mistake and running away from their responsibility when they leave this problem to the new Pakatan Rakyat State Government which came into power after 8th of March last year.

Barisan Nasional is still the ruling party of the Federal Government. Instead of running away from responsibility, they should now correct their past mistakes in Penang. Otherwise, 1Malaysia and Najib's promise of reform remain empty slogans.

Former Penang Chief Minister, Koh Tsu Koon who is now a Minister in the Prime Minister's Department had personally approved the sale of the Kg Buah Pala land while he was CM. Therefore he should not evade the problem and act as if he is ignorant of the whole issue. Instead Koh should now convince Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak to mend their past errors and assist the Kg Buah Pala villagers to resolve their predicaments.

民主行动党槟州秘书郭庭恺在2009年7月7日发表的声明：

首相及国阵中央政府有绝对的责任，协助解决国阵本身製造出的槟城豆蔻村被逼迁问题。

首相拿督斯里纳吉在昨天表示，中央政府不会插手槟城豆蔻村被逼迁问题。

纳吉对豆蔻村问题坐视不理，将问题完全丢给槟州政府去解决，显得很不负责，完全违背了他的“一个大马”口号。

豆蔻村在国阵执政槟州时，由行政议会通过以300多万令吉贱卖给发展商，整个事件都是因这项交易引起。

因此，国阵必须负起最大的责任，国阵不应因为去年3月8日大选後槟州政权易手後，就把本身犯下的严重错误丢给新州政府去承担一切。

国阵仍执政中央政府，它有绝对的责任去纠正本身过去在槟州犯下的错误，不然他的“一个大马”口号不仅显得空洞，更突出他讲一套，做另外一套。

亲自批准将豆蔻村贱卖给发展商的前槟州首席部长兼现任首相署部长丹斯里许子根不应再逃避问题，他必须提醒及说服首相，国阵必须协助解决豆蔻村问题。
